About UNAA Comps Australia
UNAA Comps Australia is the Australian branch of UNAA (Ultimate Ninja Athlete Association). UNAA Comps Australia has three levels of competition: Local Qualifiers, Area Qualifiers (state championships) and a Regional Qualifier (Nationals). Competitors compete through the three levels to qualify for the UNAA World Series Finals.
UNAA Comps Australia's Regional Qualifier is sanctioned directly by UNAA. UNAA Comps Australia has 16 classes/divisions for kids and adults aged 6+. We aim to progress the sport of ninja in Australia.
Meet the Team
UNAA Comps Australia is run by Sabrina, Sheri and Gil
Sabrina Johnstone
You may have seen Sabrina in her past throughout TV, media and publications as she had an extensive modelling career throughout her teens and in her 20’s. Sabrina was sponsored by FOX8 Sports, Carlton United Breweries and has been featured in Ralph, FHM, Melbourne Bride & Sports Illustrated Magazines. She also had a career in dance, a fun fact about Sabrina is that she was paid to dance with Paul Mercurio as a practice partner when filming the movie ‘Strictly Ballroom’.
Sabrina loves to stay active and was a state gymnast and competitive long distance runner.
Unfortunately Sabrina developed an autoimmune disease called Myasthenia Gravis which means that she can no longer do repetitive movements ( that means she can’t train very often for ninja events or her passions in sport anymore) or her body fights against itself and in a way paralyses her muscles.
Sabrina has spent many years in and out of hospital receiving chemotherapy, sometimes in a wheelchair unable to walk, lift up her arms, unable to see, feed herself or even breath alone, as Sabrina has generalised Myasthenia Gravis that affects all muscles throughout her body including her diaphragm. Sabrina is an avid ambassador for Myasthenia and often volunteers her time to support others going through chemotherapy or that have autoimmune and neuromuscular disorders helping them to adjust to what can be a very drastic change in their lives due to sudden onset of illness.
Currently Sabrina is somewhat in remission with her Myasthenia Gravis and is a busy wife and mother of 2 who works full time as director, payroll and administration officer of an excavation company in which she co-owns along with her husband Steve.
Sabrina is a qualified Endorsed Enrolled Nurse.
Sabrina holds a Certificate 4 in Retail, Certificate 4 in business management, Certificate 3 in fitness, Certificates in Sport Integrity, Antidoping, Child safeguarding, Clean Sport & Working with children, She has Level 2 Ninja Coach certification, and is a certified Level 3 Technical Official through World Obstacle. Sabrina is also Australia’s official representative on the UNAA World Series Committee.
Sabrina competes in Masters 40+ Female for a bit of fun, and her son Saxon ( Send It Saxon ) competes in the Pro Males. Saxon often helps set up & referee at ninja competitions. Saxon is a certified Level 2 Ninja Coach and Level 2 Technical Official with World Obstacle.
Sabrina loves the beach and spending time with her friends. She enjoys dancing, 4 wheel driving, camping, boating, fishing, and a country lifestyle with her family, her dogs, horses and cat.
